If you are a first time parent, bringing home a baby is fun, exciting and the most enjoyable life experience for new parents. When this little bundle of love comes out and starts its new life outside of the womb, there are many things a baby needs. However, as new parents we are sometimes confused, overwhelmed and filled with joy. But when coming home from the hospital, it’s better to be prepared and get the following items for your little baby.

Baby Needs! Must Haves!

 

From the hospital to the new home, here are the top 20 items your baby will need;

Food Basics

Bottles (even if you plan on breastfeeding, babies can use bottles all the time)

Pacifier (aka; binkies, ninnies, pacer, etc)

Formula (in case you aren’t breastfeeding)

Burp towels (if your child has reflux, these towels are critical)

Breast pump (if you plan on using the bottles)

Diapers (must haves!)

Medical Fundamentals

Thermometer (invest in a good one)

Infant ibuprofen and Tylenol (very important to have)

Nail clippers (fingernails and toenails grow really fast)

Car essentials

Infant car seat (preferably they one that has the stroller apart of it)

Car mirror (shade the sun for your baby)

Infant mirror (to glance at your little bundle of love)

Bathing Items

Infant bath tub (unless you do it in the sink for awhile)

Towel and Wash Cloth

Soft Brush (for soft little head, helps prevents cradle cap)

Sensitive bath soap for infants

Desitin (I have heard that corona which is for animals is excellent too)

Baby lotion

Nuts & Bolts of Important Miscellaneous Items

Onesies (easy to put on and take off, plus, they go over the baby’s head easily)

Socks (always keep your babies feet warm)

Bounce chair (always important for newborns)

Swing (optional, some babies simply don’t like them)

Bassinet (keep the baby close to you at night)

Rocking Chair (invest in a good one, it’s worth it)

Stroller (if it doesn’t come as a set with the car seat)

Mothers and fathers, these items are essential when expecting your first child. To fully enjoy your first few days together as a new family, try this list it will help you to be organized and ready. Babies are a gift, but hard work the more your “pre-plan” the better your adjustment for you little newborn will be. Babies need love, more love and much love, so get your list and be ready to offer love and don’t worry about the basics of items above, just buy them and be ready!

Nice list. I had most of the items on the list but I missed out on the medical fundamentals (and you're right their nails really do grow very quickly). Great hub.

Great list! I would also add that a baby carrier (like a Moby Wrap, Baby Bjorn or a sling) comes in handy, too. This is especially helpful if you have a fussy baby, or multiple children. Our second was very colicky, and I "wore" her every day to calm her down. And now that we have our third, I would be lost without my sling!
